Tim Berners-Lee

Tim Berners-Lee is a British computer scientist who almost single-handedly created the World Wide Web. While working at CERN in the late 80's Berners-Lee proposed the use of an inter-connected network on a compatible platform to share data and results. He used HTML documents and created hypertext transfer protocol, along with the first web browser and web server to create the World Wide Web. Having trouble getting things moving at CERN however, he needed to use the then infant internet to get his project off the ground. Tm Berners-Lee is now the director of the W3C as well as a contributor to Her Majesty's Power of Information Task Force.
